Danbury Flyers With Strong Showing at 2018 USATF Junior Olympic Cross Country National Championship!

The Danbury Flyers have completed a successful 5th Cross Country season with a strong showing at the USATF Junior Olympic National Championship on Saturday 12/8 at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park in Reno, NV.  Hazel Hudson achieved All American status by earning a 18th place medal in the girls 15-16 division.  The girls 15-18 team composed of Hudson, Samantha Ruggiero, Valerie Fox, Lauren O’Neil, Vivian Mendez, and Nicole Popham finished 8th in the US under difficult conditions of the high altitude combined with a snowy, muddy, and mountainous 5k course.  

In addition, for the first time in club history, an athlete below high school age qualified for and competed at this national championship meet.  Andrew Glenn, competing in the 8 and Under boys division, finished 43rd out of 232 runners in the 2k race.

With the Cross Country season concluded, the Danbury Flyers now focus on the Indoor Track and Field season, with the first developmental meet today, Sunday December 8th in New Haven.  Go Danbury Flyers!
